OutLive Film Festival Debuts May 25

March 26, 2023

The OutLive Film Festival will make its debut Thursday, May 25, 2023 at the historic Washington Cracker Company building at 304 W Pacific Ave in downtown Spokane, WA. The evening will include 10-12 exciting, touching, and inspiring short films about people rebuilding their lives in the outdoors.

The festival is built on the theme of “Stories of healing and courage, lived outdoors.” The films cover a range of people and experiences, and their tones vary from active and exciting to highly emotional to more contemplative. According to festival co-organizer Adam Harum, “Our goal is that every audience member will come away from the evening inspired to live more fully and embrace a life lived well.”

Harum’s partner in the film festival is Brad Thiessen. The two met in 2016 when Harum made a documentary of Thiessen’s quest to run his first 50k trail run as way of recovering from his second brain tumor.

“The healing power of the outdoors and the storytelling medium of film brought us together and shaped us in profound ways,” Thiessen says. “We want to share that experience with others.”

The event will feature an art exhibit by nature photographer and former Spokanite Craig Goodwin, whose works have been featured by National Geographic among others. Craig turned to photography for healing after facing cancer.

The Washington Cracker Company building, with its comfortable, casual setting, is a unique venue for a film festival. It was chosen for its relaxed vibe that will help build interaction between audience members and the films. Award-winning wine from Overbluff Cellars and other drinks will also be available.

Tickets are $15 and are available at outlivefilmfest.com. For more information, use our contact form.
